Hi all! My name is Sydney Nicholls, and I am here to tell all about my 2018 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show experience.
I had been to the Ford Youth World before, but just to watch and support my North Carolina Quarter Horse Youth Association team. This year was a little different.
Although I went to watch and support my fellow North Carolina teammates, I also worked and experienced the show behind the scenes, which most people do not get a chance to do.
This summer, I was elected an AQHYA Region 10 director, which allowed me many opportunities throughout the show. An example of this was an opportunity to sing the national anthem at the Parade of Teams in the Jim Norick Arena. I never thought in a million years that I would sing in front of that many people, especially at the Ford Youth World. I have to admit hearing the crowd cheer at the end was the best part.
I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to be involved with the show, and it is an experience I will never forget. My experience at the Ford Youth World reinforced why I am involved within this organization, as I experienced and witnessed all the dedication, passion and camaraderie that makes AQHA and AQHYA the great Association that it is.
